Learning to say, "I can't, but You can"

I just got back from Indonesia 2 days ago!

Wow. It is overwhelming, incredible, crazy, exhausting, exhilarating, and chaotic- all at the same time! I loved it so much. My heart belongs to a ten year old named Ale, the rivers I bathed in, the babies I held and kissed, and the people I came in contact with. God used Indonesia to restore my heart and hope. He used the children and the villages I lived in to breathe life back into my lungs. I know why I am on this earth now. I know why God made me with a heart for children.. and that is to live the rest of my life serving Him.

I would love to write down all of the incredible things God did during this season in my life, but it is so special, that I would rather tell you in person. However, I will share one story that drastically changed my life.

The last village we were in had about 50 kids in it. We stayed in a church and slept on the ground. Every morning, the kids would be at our window staring in. We were in Indonesia for about 1 1/2 months at this point, so we were very tired and a little burnt out. But I remember seeing the smile on those kids' faces. They were longing to be loved, held, and talked to. I would lay in my bed and tell God how exhausted I was. This outreach wasn't about me, though. It was about them. Before I came, I prayed that our team would be different. I prayed that we would die to ourselves, our desires and wants, and give to others no matter what.

In my bed I prayed that God would live through me. I said, "I CAN'T do this anymore. I am hungry, hot and tired. I need you Jesus. I need you more than the air I breathe. I can't and I am nothing without you..."

With tears falling down my face, God gave me a boost of energy. I didn't go out because I felt obligated, I went out because God truly gave me a heart and love for these children. He started living through me. It was no longer out of human effort.

I met a special boy named, Ale. He was ten years old and had a heart of gold. He was the type of kid who liked to compete in sports. And if you know me........ HAHA! I love competition. We played ping pong, volleyball, and I even taught that village baseball! I have never had so much fun in my life. God was loving these children through me!

When we left that village, everyone was in tears. I had to say bye to Ale, and it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.

So thank you so much for your prayers and support. Your prayers have gone a long way in the little villages of Indonesia. They have touched many hearts like Ale, a little girl named Eres, and a widow named Ibu Limchin.

Remember- Allow God to live through you. We can't go through this life by ourselves. We can't, but He can.

Love,
Jenny White
